FULL LICENCE INFORMATION

All the post-CBT Full Licence Courses listed below can be taken as either A1 or A2 Restricted Licence or as Direct Access if you are over 21 years of age.

Module One Test

This part of the test will be carried out on and off-road specially prepared tarmac area at the new Multi Purpose Test Centre (MPTC) at Lee On The Solent. It will incorporate two of the statutory exercises previously carried out on-road namely: the emergency stop and 'U' turn manoeuvre, plus a number of other exercises including a slalom, figure of eight and a swerve test at a specified speed. The Module One must be passed before you are able to take Module Two.

Module Two Test

This will be carried out in the same format as the former test i.e. on-road over one of several available official test-routes, with the examiner following giving directions by radio link. The routes will cover different types of road, traffic conditions, speed limits and varied traffic/pedestrian density. The test starts with an eyesight test and two questions about the machine you are riding, and ends with a question about carrying a passenger.

Free One-Hour Lesson

If you've not ridden before, you may be wondering how you're going to get on with it, or what the Instructors will be like, or simply what the process is to obtain a Full Licence. Booking a Free Lesson with us will answer all these questions, and more...

Maybe you've ridden before, but not for a while. This lesson will allow you to get back in the saddle and see what you can remember. Whether you have experience or not, this lesson is invaluable to us as an assessment of your riding so that we can ensure that you're nrolled on the right type of course.

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

Whether you are experienced or not, this is the first step everyone must take to obtaining a full motorcycle licence or to ride 50cc plus machines on the road with 'L' plates.

The course syllabus includes:

Choosing the correct helmet and safety clothing
Knowing the machine and it's controls
Basic daily/weekly machine safety checks
Manual handling and using the stands
How to pull away and stop using the brakes safely
How to use the gears (if appropriate)
Slow speed control
Controlled stops
Practice simulated left and right turns

Assuming the above is completed to a safe standard there will be a full road safety briefing and a minimum two-hour road ride, at the conclusion of which a certificate of completion (DL196) will be issued to those who have demonstrated good basic machine control and road awareness.

Remember, CBT is not a test. It's an assessment of your basic safety. Throughout the course you will receive instruction to achieve a safe standard of riding. We will provide you with an extra visit to complete the course if we recommend extra training. So don't worry we'll make it as pleasant and enyoyable as we can for you.

Free use of appropriate hire bike and insurance.
Free use of safety helmet and gloves
Free use of waterproofs.
Free tea and coffee.
